Our Mission
The Creative Coding Collective exists to facilitate collaborative solutions to challenges that individual developers and small studios cannot solve alone.
We provide the platform, process, and community for self-organizing teams to form around shared pain points, while maintaining the autonomy and independence that makes our members effective.
What We Facilitate
Collective Power: Transforming our informal network of 700+ creative developers into an organized force that vendors, clients, and industry cannot ignore.
Self-Directed Collaboration: Creating space and structure where motivated individuals can find each other, form project teams, and tackle problems using their own expertise and judgment.
Shared Resources: Enabling members to pool knowledge, costs, and opportunities, from conference booth sharing to code reviews to market research, without central ownership or control.
Industry Influence: Amplifying individual voices into collective advocacy that shapes vendor decisions, industry standards, and market opportunities.
What We Don’t Do
We are not project managers, quality controllers, or conflict mediators.
We don’t enforce deadlines, guarantee outcomes, or manage teams. We don’t dictate which problems to solve or how to solve them.
We simply facilitate the conditions where effective collaboration can emerge naturally.
How We Work
Hands-Off Facilitation: We provide the hub, project framework, and regular meetups. Teams manage themselves according to their own standards and priorities.
Natural Selection: Market forces and member interest determine which projects succeed. Viable initiatives attract committed team members; others simply don’t proceed.
Individual Autonomy: Members choose their own involvement level, resource commitments, and project participation. Successful teams can evolve into commercial ventures, spin-off companies, or individual opportunities.
Antifragile Design: Failed projects make the collective stronger by clearing the way for better approaches. Each attempt teaches us about effective collaboration and realistic scope.
Our Principles
- Pain point first: Start with real problems affecting our community
- Stop complaining, start building: Move from frustration to action
- Number 8 wire mentality: “It’s possible if we’re clever about it”
- Defensive collaboration: Structure processes to handle challenges gracefully
- Trusted membership: Quality community over quantity growth
Success Metrics
We succeed when individual members achieve what they couldn’t accomplish alone: better vendor relationships, increased market visibility, improved technical capabilities, sustainable business growth, and professional community.
The collective grows stronger not through central achievements, but through the accumulated success of self-organizing teams working on problems they choose to solve.
The Creative Coding Collective: Facilitating collaboration, preserving autonomy, amplifying impact.
